The #Building_Communities campaign by Emaar Properties to mark the Holy Month of Ramadan has entered its final week. Love a little, share a little and give a little, and post details of your random acts of kindness on Emaar’s social media networks. The most touching story will receive AED20,000 to be given to a charity of the winner’s choice.

This is part of an innovative social experiment, whereby people are urged to share their stories of kindness; these could range from leaving a friendly note at someone’s desk to donating time to a local charity or even helping a stranger in need.

Emaar has also shared short videos on its social networks to highlight the stories of people who have made a positive change through their charity initiatives. Featured are Ahmed Haweel, Ifraz Ahsan and Anushree Unakal, three students who decided to ‘give’ their time by visiting patients at Mediclinic Dubai Mall, to spread positivity and make the patients as happy as possible.

Further inspiring you to volunteer your time and effort for a good cause is Dr. Shambavi Rajagopal, founder of Save Scrap N’ Sew. The non-profit organisation takes scraps of unused materials from tailors and stitches them into useful items that are given away. It builds on Dr. Shambavi’s passion to lend a personal touch to a charitable deed.

Emaar has placed over 1,000 #Building_Communities boxes across its assets, each with gift vouchers valued at AED 100. The boxes have instructions on the charitable deed to be done, which could be anything from buying a stranger a present using the voucher or gifting it to a person in need. The voucher can be used at The Dubai Mall, Address Hotels and restaurants, Reel Cinemas as well as all other Emaar businesses.

#Building_Communities complements the ‘Year of Giving’ announced by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with a focus on supporting less privileged communities through charitable initiatives.

Emaar’s community residents came together once again to mark the spirit of sharing, caring and togetherness this Holy Month of Ramadan.

Emaar Community Management joined hands with them to host an Iftar for service providers of Emaar’s integrated neighbourhoods.

Residents of The Springs, The Meadows, Emirates Hills, The Lakes and Hattan hosted the Iftar on the lawns behind Springs 15. By ‘serving the providers,’ Emaar Community Management and residents demonstrated their thankfulness to the community workers for their hard work in the upkeep of the neighbourhoods. They were also welcomed by Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director – Emaar Properties and Jeevan D’Mello, Chief Customer & Community Officer – Emaar Properties.

The event was part of the #BuildingCommunities campaign being organised by Emaar Properties with the goal of encouraging people to undertake random acts of kindness and make a positive difference during the Holy Month.

Fostering community spirit, #BuildingCommunities has successfully brought together Emaar’s community residents, who volunteer in hosting the Iftar as well as take part in charitable initiatives. They can take part in the campaign by donating bread, laban, fruit juices, bananas and apples, and participate as volunteers to serve the community workers.

Further, Emaar is distributing #BuildingCommunities boxes as part of the campaign to complement the ‘Year of Giving’ announced by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for supporting less privileged communities through charitable initiatives.

Each box has gift vouchers valued at AED 100, and instructions on the charitable deed to be done, which could be anything from buying a stranger a present using the voucher or gifting it to a person in need. The voucher can be used at The Dubai Mall, Address Hotels + Resorts, Reel Cinemas as well as all other Emaar businesses.

Several such kindness boxes have been placed in Emaar’s neighbourhoods, where residents can use the vouchers to bond with neighbours or touch a person’s life through random acts of kindness.

Emaar is also highlighting the stories of people who have made a positive change through their charity initiatives. Through inspiring videos of their work, Emaar aims to engage people to positively impact the community this Holy Month and beyond. The public can take part in this innovative social experiment by sharing their stories of kindness on Emaar’s social media channels under the #BuildingCommunities campaign. One winner will be chosen, and Emaar will donate a cash prize of AED 20,000 directly to the winner’s charity of choice.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, reviewed the progress in construction of The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, the iconic observation tower that defines a new skyline for the nation.

His Highness was accompanied on the tour by Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties; HE Abdullah Al Habbai, Chairman of Dubai Holding, and other senior officials.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid was briefed on the milestones already achieved including the completion of foundation work and the commencement of work on the anchorages for the stay cables that are an integral part of design and structural support of The Tower.

In October 2016, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid marked the ground-breaking of the tower, with the foundation work accomplished in a record time. More than 145 barrette piles have been laid to depths of over 72 metres to secure the super-tall structure. His Highness witnessed the trimming of the barrette piles and the preparation of the reinforcement couplers, ready to receive the first sub structure slab.

The barrette piles used for the foundation have been tested to a world record test load of 360 MN (36,000 tonnes), and the work was undertaken by foundation specialist, Soletanche Bachy. A cathodic protection system, similar to that used on the foundations of Burj Khalifa, is being completed to protect it from any corrosion risk.

Mohamed Alabbar said: “We are thankful to the guidance and support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who inspires us to continuously push our boundaries. The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour is our tribute to the nation, a new architectural marvel that will enhance our civic pride, and contribute to the economy by promoting the tourism sector. The spectacular tower will also frame a new skyline that adds to the cityscape set by Burj Khalifa.”

His Excellency Abdullah Al Habbai said: “The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour stands for the positivity and hope that Dubai celebrates. It reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to establish the city as a hub for business and leisure, and welcome visitors from around the world. With this iconic development, Dubai is once again demonstrating its ability to develop first-of-its-kind projects that surprise the world.”

With work on the 19m Pile Cap commencing shortly, The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour will witness a global team of professionals at work to create another global icon. Designed by Spanish/Swiss architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava Valls, The Tower will feature several observation decks that offer 360 degree views of the city and beyond. Among the highlights are The Pinnacle Room and VIP Observation Garden Decks that recreate the splendour of the ‘Hanging Gardens of Babylon,’ one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

The Tower adds incredible economic value to Dubai Creek Harbour where Emaar has unveiled exceptional residential projects including Creek Gate, Harbour Gate, The Cove, Dubai Creek Residences, Creekside 18, Harbour Views, and Creek Horizon, among others.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, today marked the groundbreaking of The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, the brand-new icon that will be the world’s tallest tower when completed in 2020.

The groundbreaking was held in the presence of His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Chairman of Dubai Holding, Mr Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, and other dignitaries. Providing stunning 360 degree views of the city and beyond, the Tower strengthens the UAE’s reputation for innovation and excellence in architecture, engineering and construction and will eclipse even Burj Khalifa as the tallest building in the world.

Re-defining the nation’s already spectacular skyline and setting a new global referral point, The Tower anchors the 6 sq km Dubai Creek Harbour mega-development, located just 10 minutes from the Dubai International Airport, and will serve as a magnet for tourists and visitors from around the world.

One of the world’s largest master-planned developments, Dubai Creek Harbour integrates the latest design, engineering and sustainability features. A next-generation smart hub, it will also incorporate an advanced digital lifestyle defined by the latest developments in artificial intelligence.

The waterfront development, a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Dubai Holding, is located just off the Dubai Creek, the birthplace of Dubai’s history and culture, and in close proximity to the Ras Al Khor National Wildlife Sanctuary, protected under the UNESCO Ramsar Convention. The Tower is designed by Spanish/Swiss architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava Valls.

HE Mohammad Al Gergawi said: “The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, which will be the tallest in the world, represents a new phase in the development vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed whereby His Highness will present to the world a new icon and to humanity a higher point in its development, adding to our national pride in our path-breaking achievements.

“The Tower is one of the outcomes of the strategic partnership between Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties which is closely followed by HH Sheikh Mohammed. It reflects the vision of His Highness to further strengthen the tourism sector, persify our economy and reinforce the sound economic stature of the UAE globally. The Tower is part of a smart city development, providing a new and distinguished lifestyle, and will be completed by 2020 along with a number of strategic and pioneering projects that are being undertaken here, setting global benchmarks.”

HE Al Gergawi added: “The groundbreaking of The Tower is another historic moment for the UAE, as we mark the construction of another icon that will add to the UAE’s civic pride. At the heart of Dubai Creek Harbour, the super-tall structure will create lasting value and serve as one of the must-visit tourist destinations in the city.

“It celebrates the long-term vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, underlined by the recently announced ‘UAE Strategy for the Future’ to drive the transformational growth of the nation. Our focus is on identifying the needs of the future, and implement sustainable plans that are impactful and make a difference. Dubai Creek Harbour is our investment in our future, and as a centrepoint of this mega-development, The Tower will enhance the reputation of our city and help boost the growth of the economy.”

Mr Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “We are thankful to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his generous guidance and support in developing another global icon for Dubai. The Tower is inspired by his vision and his firm belief that in the race for excellence there is no finish-line. From Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers, Burj Khalifa and now The Tower, Dubai has been the centre of innovation for supertall structures and breakthrough developments in design, architecture and engineering. We are pushing our boundaries in every aspect of this new master-planned development, one of the largest in the world, which underlines the spirit of positivity and hope that our nation celebrates. It will be a sterling addition to the smart city that HH Sheikh Mohammed envisages, with futuristic digital features that meet the aspirations of the next generation. We will continue to push the frontiers of engineering and construction to complete the project in time for Expo 2020 Dubai.”

The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour supports the goals of Dubai Plan 2021 to establish the city as a global business and leisure hub, and will add real economic value by driving the growth of the core sectors of tourism, hospitality, aviation and retail among others.

Mr Santiago Calatrava Valls said: “The design and architectural features of The Tower demand unique engineering approaches that are currently being implemented on site. Extensive studies were undertaken in preparation for the ground-breaking, and the learning that we have gained from the experience will add to the knowledge base of mankind.”

With no similar super-tall structures in the world, Emaar has undertaken a completely new approach to wind-engineering and seismic tests, which have already been completed. Every aspect of The Tower is designed to the highest international standards of safety – from the choice of materials to the technology being deployed in its construction.

The crowning glory of The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour will be The Pinnacle Room, opening to spectacular views of the city, as well as several VIP Observation Garden Decks. The Tower will have dynamic illumination and movement lighting, which will make it a stunning visual landmark during the day and night. In addition, several ‘green corridors’ will offer pedestrian access and effortless connectivity with Dubai Creek Harbour.

Emaar has unveiled high-end residences in Dubai Creek Harbour, including Dubai Creek Residences, Creekside 18, Harbour Views and Creek Horizon in The Island District. With uninterrupted views of The Tower, the homes open to premium vistas of the Dubai Creek, a stylish marina with a yacht club, the adjacent Ras Al Khor bird sanctuary and the skyline of Downtown Dubai.
