Shams Emaar, the corporate social responsibility team of Emaar, will honour workers for their commitment and dedication to building the city, with ‘A Pack to Give Back’ campaign. The initiative is just in time for the preparations for the Holy Month of Ramadan and as part of Shams Emaar’s #BuildingCommunities campaign.

On May 1, the International Labour Day, the Shams Emaar team, which comprises of Emaar employees and led by Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director of Emaar Properties, will come together to create around 10,000 packs containing numerous essentials – from soaps and shampoos to a cap to shield the workers from the sun, just to name a few. Additionally, these will all be provided in a reusable bag.

A portion of the packs will be distributed on May 10 to workers at a select site in Downtown Dubai and over the coming days, the remainder of the packs will be distributed to the workers at remaining Emaar project sites, within the vicinity. Various Emaar entities have joined hands for the initiative including staff at Address Hotels + Resorts, Rove Hotels, The Dubai Mall and other divisions of Emaar.

In March this year, Shams Dubai hosted over 2,000 workers at weekly #BuildingCommunities events held at RISE Dubai Creek Harbour. They were treated to an evening of entertainment and food with activities including karaoke, competitions, and open-air movie screening. In other initiatives, Shams Emaar has also hosted People of Determination at RISE Dubai Creek Harbour.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi said: “This simple gesture goes a long way for the people who work tirelessly to build our society. We will continue to roll out various #BuildingCommunities initiatives, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan, to foster stronger bonding with the workers and the community.”

The #BuildingCommunities campaign was launched last year by hosting community Iftars for the varied workforce that supports Emaar and complements the CSR initiatives led by Emaar Foundation.

Emaar’s hospitality and leisure subsidiary has 12 operational hotels and 3 serviced residences in DubaiAnnounced development pipeline of over 35 projects in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey and The MaldivesPortfolio of 50 hospitality projects – both operational and upcoming – offering more than 25,000 rooms and residencesShowcases diverse portfolio of hotels, serviced¬ residences, leisure clubs and lifestyle dining venues at the Arabian Travel Market 2018
Dubai, UAE; April 22, 2018: Emaar Hospitality Group, the hospitality and leisure business of global developer Emaar Properties, today announced that it has marked a historic milestone of 50 hotel projects in its portfolio, including 35 upcoming projects in the UAE and international markets, as well as 15 hotels and serviced residences that are operational in Dubai.

Announcing the breakthrough evolution of Dubai’s home-grown hospitality company, Olivier Harnisch, Chief Executive Officer of Emaar Hospitality Group, said that several new management agreements are being finalised to be potentially announced during the Arabian Travel Market 2018.

“Since 2007, we have been shaping a new identity and presence in the hospitality scene, and with three distinctive brands, we have now achieved a remarkable milestone in our growth journey of having a robust portfolio of 50 hospitality projects – both operational and upcoming – together offering more than 25,000 rooms and residences. While our primary footprint is the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa region, we are delighted by the response from owners and developers to our hotel concepts, and are expanding to new geographies,” said Harnisch.

Emaar Hospitality Group’s upcoming international projects are in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey and The Maldives, with new destinations to be added shortly. In the UAE, the Group has expanded its presence from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. “Our ambition is to be one of the world’s most admired and trusted hospitality companies, and with Dubai evolving as a global tourism and business hub, we have earned remarkable brand recognition in global markets that power our onward journey,” said Harnisch.

Three brands, three experiences

With a focus on brand differentiation to drive deep customer personalisation, Emaar Hospitality Group has launched three hotel brands – the premium luxury Address Hotels + Resorts, the upscale lifestyle Vida Hotels and Resorts, and the contemporary midscale Rove Hotels, the latter developed as a joint venture between Emaar Properties and Meraas Holding.

Addressing the media at a press conference held during Arabian Travel Market, Harnisch said that each of the three brands has gained significant traction – and are fast-expanding their footprint to meet the fast needs and aspirations of a fast-changing tourist demographic, especially with a focus on the millennial travellers and new generation of entrepreneurs.

“Across the MENA region, there is a strong focus on economic diversification with tourism and hospitality serving as central pillars of the strategic vision outlined by governments. The UAE Vision 2021 and Saudi Vision 2030, for example, outline the important role that the hospitality sector plays in job creation and in diversifying non-oil revenues. Our strategy is to leverage the growth of the Middle East’s tourism sector, which grew 5 per cent in 2017, by strengthening the hospitality infrastructure and assuring visitors distinctive guest experiences through our hotel projects,” said Harnisch.

A focus on digitisation

The expansion of Emaar Hospitality Group is complemented through higher operational efficiency and a customer-first approach highlighted through an organisation-wide digital transformation strategy. In addition to working with tech-leaders such as Microsoft and Accenture, the Group has launched three digital initiatives that will set industry-firsts.

The first project focuses on bringing seamless service to the guest, ensuring they can check-in/check-out anytime, anywhere. The second leads to the transformation of hotel rooms as intelligent rooms that tunes itself to the preferences of the guest through machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. The third project draws on digital collaterals to free up space in guest rooms and public spaces whereby the Group will introduce digital storage and connected processes to create social spaces for better guest interaction and fun activities.

In a significant deal that will boost the hospitality landscape of Sharjah, ARADA, a joint venture between KBW Investments and Basma Group, today signed a management agreement with Emaar Hospitality Group, the hospitality & leisure subsidiary of Emaar Properties PJSC, to launch three new hotels in Sharjah.

The three hotels under Emaar Hospitality Group’s premium lifestyle Address Hotels + Resorts, upscale lifestyle Vida Hotels and Resorts, and the contemporary midscale Rove Hotels will be located in Aljada, a 24 million square foot integrated lifestyle destination, and a new leisure and entertainment hub for Sharjah.

The agreement was signed by HE Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Chairman of ARADA, HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal, Vice Chairman of ARADA, and Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties, in the presence of senior officials of the two companies as well as Emaar Hospitality Group.

Under the terms of the agreement, Emaar Hospitality Group will manage Address Aljada Sharjah with 150 rooms, and Address Residences Aljada Sharjah, an exclusive selection of only 150 serviced residences, located in Aljada’s Central Hub, the heart of the megaproject. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, the 1.9 million square foot Central Hub will be a new focus for leisure and entertainment in the UAE, and a significant addition to an Emirate that is already widely regarded as the cultural capital of the Arab world. Aljada’s Central Hub will be a major destination for tourists and residents in its own right, offering a carefully selected mix of world-class offerings, complemented by community facilities and an array of retail and dining experiences.

In close proximity is the Vida Aljada Sharjah with 175 hotel rooms and Vida Residences Aljada Sharjah with 120 residences. Located within Aljada’s Business Park is the 300-room Rove Aljada Sharjah. The serviced residences under Address and Vida will be offered for sale in the fourth quarter of 2018.

His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said: “Our flagship development, Aljada is a first-of-its-kind integrated lifestyle destination in Sharjah that will add tremendous value to the economy. Hospitality is one of the core aspects of the mega-development. With the growth in tourist arrivals to Sharjah, and the emirate’s status as a cultural hub, there is strong potential for building a robust hospitality infrastructure. Our agreement with Emaar will bring proven hospitality competencies to this spectacular development that will transform Sharjah’s economy.”

Mohamed Alabbar said: “ARADA is redefining the residential and commercial landscape of Sharjah with Aljada, its ambitious master-planned destination that will catalyse all sectors of the economy. Through our partnership, we are bringing three distinctive hotel experiences that will meet the requirements of visitors and residents. This is a great example of the collaborations we foster to create iconic destinations of the future. Our three hotel brands – Address, Vida and Rove – have set high industry standards and will be a sterling addition to Aljada.”

Olivier Harnisch, Chief Executive Officer of Emaar Hospitality Group, added: “Sharjah has unique touristic value that is defined by its cultural museums as well as natural attractions. With our three hotel brands marking their entry to Sharjah for the first time, we are not only expanding our footprint in the UAE but also contributing the strengthening the tourism sector of the emirate. While Address Aljada Sharjah will appeal to luxury travellers, Vida Aljada is for the new generation of entrepreneurs and travellers, and Rove Aljada Sharjah brings the midscale offering. All hotels stand out for their brand philosophy and design approach, and are located centrally adding to the connectivity and mobility of our guests.”

Address Aljada Sharjah brings the same ‘where life happens’ approach to ensure that guests receive the highest service standards in a central location. The hotel will have all modern amenities such a selection of exclusive restaurants, including The Restaurant at Address Aljada Sharjah as well as a fitness centre, meeting rooms and more. Address Hotels + Resorts has already announced its expansion to operate hotels in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey and the Maldives as well as the UAE.

Vida Hotels and Resorts is a refreshingly different upscale lifestyle hotel and residences brand for the new generation of business executives, entrepreneurs and leisure travellers. Vida, meaning ‘life’ in Spanish, embraces warmth, simplicity and creativity in design-led spaces. Vida Aljada Sharjah will deliver its differentiating value proposition in Sharjah with a wide range of amenities and lifestyle choices. Emaar Hospitality Group has expanded the footprint of Vida to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt in addition to several new hotels in the UAE.

A contemporary midscale hotel brand that reflects the pulse of Dubai, Rove Hotels is a joint venture between Meraas and Emaar Properties PJSC. Designed for the new generation traveller who recognises value, stays connected through technology and gravitates towards culturally-inspired surroundings, Rove Hotels defines a new niche in Dubai’s vibrant hospitality sector. Rove Hotels already has five operational properties in well-connected locations across Dubai – Rove Downtown, Rove City Centre, Rove Healthcare City, Rove Trade Centre and the most recent addition, Rove Dubai Marina, which opened in April.

Launched in September 2017 by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the AED 24 billion Aljada has swiftly become Sharjah’s fastest-selling residential community. Delivered in phases starting in 2019, the entire project is expected to be completed by 2025.

The Aljada masterplan is carefully designed with walkability and wide green spaces in mind, allowing residents, workers and visitors the ability to live, work, play and be entertained within a fully integrated and sustainable community. Aljada is ideally situated on the last major plot of undeveloped land in the heart of Sharjah, with exceptional connectivity to surrounding areas, and is an all-encompassing district that comprises considerable retail, leisure and entertainment options, in addition to a wide range of residential and commercial offerings.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai’s leading developers partner to create world-class lifestyle destinations with a targeted AED 30 billion national and international development pipeline.

Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today attended the announcement of a joint venture (JV) between Aldar Properties (Aldar) and Emaar Properties (Emaar) to develop the world’s next era of iconic destinations that will shape the UAE’s ever-evolving skyline.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid highlighted the importance of cooperation between the UAE’s two leading developers. “We are happy to witness the signing of this partnership, which will contribute to our development journey and help enhance the UAE’s position as a tourism destination of choice. We have great ambitions and we are confident our national firms have the capabilities to achieve them. We want our companies to be at the forefront of our development and collaborate with each other to explore creative ideas for strengthening the UAE’s leadership, and enhancing the happiness and quality of life of our people.”

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed applauded the major partnership between the two firms, and wished them success in promoting growth and excellence. This partnership aims to create new opportunities for investment growth, and identify innovative projects that can enhance the UAE’s leadership and competitiveness, His Highness said.

In a first for the country’s leading developers, the JV signifies the strong bond between Abu Dhabi and Dubai as they seek to cement the UAE’s reputation for creating the world’s most innovative developments. The JV, with a targeted AED 30 billion national and international development pipeline and an initial focus on two projects, brings together the capabilities of the country’s leading developers to deliver exceptional destinations, designed with a focus on people and future lifestyle trends. It also acts as a catalyst for other potential co-investment opportunities between the developers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

In the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as senior government officials from Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the historic JV was signed by His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Aldar Properties, and His Excellency Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman of Emaar Properties.

His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak said: “Without doubt, the joint venture will expand the country’s portfolio of iconic real estate projects and there is no limit to the development possibilities created by the JV partnership between Aldar and Emaar. Individually, we have developed some of the world’s most awe-inspiring buildings and together, we have an incredible proposition that will contribute to achieving our national vision and make the UAE an even more exciting place to live and visit.”

His Excellency Mohamed Alabbar added: “This joint venture is a strong testament to the spirit of partnerships that have contributed to establishing the UAE as a global hub for business and leisure. The world-class lifestyle destinations that we develop will add to the civic pride of the nation, and further enhance its appeal as an investment and lifestyle destination. We are drawing on our proven competencies in delivering high quality master-planned communities that have not only redefined lifestyles but also created tremendous economic value for our country. This partnership sends a powerful message that the UAE is at the forefront in shaping global real estate trends, and also signifies the unbreakable bond between the two emirates.”

JV to focus on two development projects

The JV will initially focus on two projects – one in Dubai and one in Abu Dhabi, demonstrating the co-investment between the two developers. The master-planned destination in Abu Dhabi will be situated in one of the country’s most strategic and valuable locations in the heart of the Emirate’s Cultural district on Al Saadiyat Island, named Saadiyat Grove. The development is set to become Abu Dhabi’s most coveted address, serving as a hub for visitors to three world-class museums as well as residents of the island, which is synonymous with natural beauty, cultural experiences, architectural splendour and vast business potential. The development will provide a pivotal link between the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which opened to international acclaim in November 2017, as well as the planned Zayed National Museum, the UAE’s first national museum, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

Set to open in 2021, the mixed-use development will feature close to 2,000 residential units, two world-class hotels, 400 serviced apartments and 130,000 square metres of experiential lifestyle and retail space, designed with a focus on the lifestyles of the future and millennials. It will further enhance the appeal of Abu Dhabi and cement the standing of the Emirate’s Cultural District as a leading destination for the arts and an enviable residential location.

The second project is the unique new waterfront destination, Emaar Beachfront. The private island, by the Arabian Gulf, will feature a wide range of leisure and lifestyle attractions including F&B outlets, beachside play areas, retail pop-ups set along a promenade, and more. Residents of Emaar Beachfront, comprising approximately 7,000 residential units, have access to a 1.5 km private sandy beach.

Located off King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, in the area between Jumeirah Beach Residence and Palm Jumeirah, Emaar Beachfront has direct access to Sheikh Zayed Road and Dubai Marina. Residents will be within close proximity of Dubai Harbour, currently under development by Meraas, which will feature a waterfront shopping mall, the Middle East’s largest marina with over 1,100 berths, a yacht club, luxury hotels and a choice of retail, dining and entertainment attractions.

The JV between Aldar and Emaar will focus on creating remarkable destinations in some of the country’s most sought-after locations through a series of joint master-planned developments.
